I’m Danielle Hawthorne, Miss Teen Barrie-World 2012.  In this post I will tell you a little about myself, more than what is in the About Me box to the right.  I have always liked school, since my first public speaking award in grade 4 I’ve had a strong interest in writing, probably in part to some good teachers.  I’ve been recognized by the Young Authors of Ontario and graduated high school as an Ontario Scholar. In the picture below I’m with my grade 12 English teacher Mr. Conroy and my friend Cabrina Belisle at my high school graduation.

Currently I study at Ryerson University – I love psychology.  I also love the city of Toronto, even though I grew up in the country, I am a city girl at heart.  I go home to Barrie most weekends, it’s hard to go without a home cooked meal for more than a week.  Luckily my mom works 15 minutes from Ryerson, so I am treated to lunch a couple of times a week. The picture below is of me and my Mother at a Christmas party.

My platform is anti-bullying.  When I was younger I was bullied alot, it hurt, but I learned how to deal with bullies.

I have visited my elementary school recently and spoke to some students about anti-bullying (more detailed post about that to come).  I have a few appearances scheduled in the near future; I’ll be helping out at the Easter Darlings pageant on April 1st and participating in the MS walk in Barrie on April 22nd.

This first post is sponsored by some companies helping out behind the Miss Teen Canada Blog Network including directbuy and a Toronto roof repair and replacement company.
